Tournaments (Seasons & Competitions)

On the Tournaments Management page, it’s possible to create & edit teams (their names, abbreviations and image links). Creating and editing seasons and competitions is also possible (albeit with restrictions).

To acces this page, Access Level 5 is required.

Seasons

On the Seasons tab, new seasons can be created by pressing “Create Season”. A unique season name will be required followed by the start and end date for the season.

Caution

Once the season dates are set and the season created, they cannot be changed. Only one active season is permitted at any given time.

Once a season is created, the season name (which should be something that can be attributed to the league) can be changed. It must still be unique. Competitions can only be created once a season has been created.

Teams

Teams can be created via “Create Team” on this tab. The team name does not have to be unique but should match what is used within your league. An abbreviation (2-3 character shorthand name) must be provided. A team image link is not required and is not presently used on RoBall. In future, the ability to upload images directly will be made available. Once created, any of the aforementioned attributes can be edited by pressing “Manage Team” on the specific team.

Note

If attempting to use a team in a competition immediately after creation, refresh the page first to ensure that the team has been saved.

Competitions

On the final tab, competitions can be created and managed.

Creating a competition will also automatically generate the fixtures for that competition depending on the provided teams AND format. The currently available formats are:

• Single Elimination Knockout
• Single Round Robin
• Double Round Robin

New formats will be added in the future.

To create a competition, a season must be selected via drop down. If a season has just been created, refresh the page to ensure that it is present.

“Create Competition” can then be pressed. On this prompt, a competition name must be provided along with the dates, the given format and the the list of teams, which can be selected by dropdown.

Note

Some formats, such as Single Elimination Knockout may require a certain number of teams before it is viable to be created. Seeding is currently unavailble.

Caution

Once created, it is not possible to change the format of a competition or the start/end date for the competition.

After the season is created, only the competition name can be changed.

Fixtures

Fixtures for the given competition are generated automatically and are available on the competition page of which you will be redirected to upon creation.

These fixtures can be edited directly on the competition page.

Caution

Access Level 5 at minimum is required to edit fixtures.

In addition, only the home and away team of a given fixture can be changed. Both teams MUST already be in the same competition. The ability to change a fixture’s date will be available in the future.
